More kids get to go to camp because of the Saskatchewan Auto Dealers Association (SADA) and their $30,000 donation to Camp Easter Seal during their annual Board of Directors meeting. SADA donates annually to Camp Easter Seal.

Humboldt is going to nationals for bowling after Dylan Manderscheid, who bowls at Kemway Lanes in Humboldt, lead his team of five mixed bowlers to the gold medal at the 2015 five-pin Youth Bowling Challenge held in Saskatoon on Dec. 6.

The Humboldt Christmas Cheer Hamper is about to get a boost right before Christmas. On Dec. 23, the Community Gathering Place is hosting a concert benefiting the hamper program.

After a busy 2015, the Humboldt Broncos are getting some much needed time off. The Broncos wrapped up the 2015 portion of their schedule on Dec. 19 and now enjoy a two and a half week break.

Christmas is a busy time of year for a lot of people. Usually I am the same, finishing up my shopping, wrapping gifts, working, spending time with family, among a multitude of other things.

You see it year after year. Kids getting too many toys and too much money. Looking back, there were very few toys that stuck out in my memory in all the years of gift giving from parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

BRANT: Isabel Isabel Brant passed away on December 14, 2015 at the age of 64 years. Isabel was born in 1951 to Oscar and Mary Trueby. Throughout her life, Isabel made many friendships within the Sisters of Sion.

SCHATZ: Monica Monica Schatz (nee Kilcher), at the age of 85, died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 11th, 2015 in Humboldt, SK. Monica was born on July 29th, 1930 in Daylesford, SK to Art & Emily Kilcher.

The Humboldt CN station has undergone a minor facelift. The Humboldt Murals Committee has added murals containing the flags of origin for the people of Humboldt. The project began in the fall with help from the Humboldt Regional Newcomers Centre.

The Humboldt and Area Refugee Coalition are on their way to sponsoring a Syrian family to come to Humboldt. Now it has become a question of cost and direction, which was discussed at the Community Gather Place on Dec. 10.
