Two young women with ties to Humboldt made their mark at the 2014 JDC West competition, including taking home top honours in the human resources component and playing an instrumental role in organizing the event.

WITTIG: Vernon "Vern" Paul December 28, 1961 - February 1, 2014 The sudden and unexpected death of Mr. Vernon "Vern" Paul Wittig of Quill Lake, SK, occurred at Yuma Regional Medical Centre, Yuma, AZ, USA, on Saturday, February 1, 2014.

HOHMANN: Jesse Bernard November 16, 1974 - February 1, 2014 Jesse Hohmann, known to friends as "Hommer," passed away on February 1, 2014, at the age of 39 years. Jesse was born in Humboldt, SK.

BIEKER: Ronald Douglas Ronald Douglas Bieker, 77, died January 24, 2014 after a valiant battle with cancer. Ron was born August 2, 1936 to Gregor and Elizabeth (Stadelman) Bieker in Watson, Sasaktchewan, Canada.
