Mothers feted on their special day
I'm home from a two-week stay at my son's in Cold Lake, Alta. His wife's mother passed away and they were attending her funeral in Trenton, Ont. While there I had to shovel snow two times. It's not spring yet.

Sharing cards and fellowship
Cards were played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre May 12 with a better turnout than usual. Bev Stewart hosted, chose cribbage to be played and provided lunch. High score went to Denise Newton and low to Bev.

Field work hits the ground running
Spring is really here! Extensive seeding and other field work has been done during the past week. The leaves have been slow coming out. Last Wednesday one could see the slight greening on the trees and a couple of warmer days have brought them out.

Entertaining times for residents
May is just flying by for us at Caleb Village and we are having a great time. Our residents are busy working on puzzles, playing cards, going for walks at our nearby park and playing Wii bowling, just to name a few activities.

Preschoolers entertain seniors' club members
The Borden Friendship Club members were entertained May 14 by eight four- and five-year-olds from the Borden preschool group taught by Kendall Redhead. The group sang four action songs then were treated to ice cream, iced tea and cookies by the club.

Visit to Saskatoon galleries planned
The Battlefords Art Club made plans for a trip to visit art galleries in Saskatoon when they met Tuesday at Don Ross Centre. The club had a large turnout for the regular painting session and the recpetion of our work in the Chapel Gallery.

Moisture hampering farming operations
The area farmers are trying to get the crop in without getting stuck, however with the rain that we are getting it is hard for them to miss those wet spots. The roads are soft and breaking up so it is making it difficult as well.
