Doug Peake of Waldheim has had a love for wood his entire life, stemming back to his childhood as he reminisces about working at his dad's sawmill in Leask. Peake relocated to the West Coast and began a 30-year career as a logger.

Bingo was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre May 2 with Margaret MacEachern and Joan Smith doing the calling. The loonie pot was won by seven people so was left to accumulate. Lunch was provided by Dorothy Schwartz.

Some moving out, others moving in

Best wishes to Conrad and Danay Smart as they move from their home in Waseca to be closer to the homes of their parents near Prince Albert. Conrad and Danay have resided in the village of about four years.

Spring arrives, all of a sudden

May 20 was the first day for quite some time that the wind was not blowing. I really enjoyed the calm day. Someone once said spring in our part of the world comes all of a sudden. It's here.
