Kaiser was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Feb. 12. Tied for high score were Jean Stewart and Dorothy Schwartz. Low score went to Eva Inkster. Lunch was provided by Lil McMillan.

Battlefords citizens were put in touch with their history during Archives Week, when the the City of North Battleford Historic Archives set up displays at Frontier Mall Feb. 8 and at the Territorial Mall Feb. 9th.

It is getting closer to spring and along with hockey playoffs and curling bonspiels there are a few more activities happening in Maidstone. The Winter Reading Program at the public library kicks off this week running Feb.

The Speers Library held a Valentine open house Feb. 13 with the theme being "Love Your Library." Adults and children were encouraged to hand make Valentines and the entries qualified for a draw.

At 10103 - 11th Ave. in downtown North Battleford, the once imposing hundred year old Sallows & Boyd building, more recently, and infamously, known as the Pigeon Hotel, stands empty, forlorn and deteriorating.

We arrived safely Feb. 15 and the weather is great here - warm and sunny with temperatures in the high 20s. My son Bryan lives on an acreage, so there are lots of horses, dairies and sheep close by.
