MELFORT — A new special needs transit policy will make it easier to transfer older residents to an open space in a long-term care facility using that vehicle instead of an ambulance.

Battlefords RCMP were called to a residence on the Red Pheasant First Nation shortly after midnight Wednesday to investigate a report of a man suffering a stab wound.

Battlefords RCMP are investigating a robbery the occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 17th Avenue and 96th Street in the city of North Battleford. Police say two men approached a third man sitting in a parked vehicle.

A recent report found the Battlefords-Lloydminster federal riding is in the top 20 of highest levels of child poverty, compared to 338 federal ridings.

A helicopter crashed Tuesday in the RM of Spy Hill. Unity RCMP responded to the report at about 8:15 a.m. along with Luseland Police Service, Luseland Fire Department, Unity Emergency Medical Services and SaskPower.

MELFORT — The driver of the semi that hit the Humboldt Broncos team bus is out of jail – with conditions. Jaskirat Sidhu, who appeared in Melfort Provincial Court July 10, will have to pay $1,000 in bail.
