For a second day in a row extreme windchills have grounded school buses in Living Sky School Division.

Both the Nipawin Hawks and Melfort Mustangs made last-minute roster changes before the deadline. The Mustangs only made one move Jan. 10, with most of their action happening the days before, while the Hawks made two trades on the day.

North Battleford Senior Citizen Action Now Inc. has once again made its annual donation to the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation. The donation of $5,500 to the foundation's fund was the same as in the past several years.

The deadline to run for the Saskatchewan Party nomination for Melfort has passed and there’s no surprises. Todd Goudy , Tim Hoenmans , Scott Lessmeister and Louise Schweitzer are officially running for the position.

Both North Battleford and Battleford have big decisions to make soon on retailing cannabis in the community.

The City of North Battleford will be holding a City Employee Awards Luncheon on Jan. 17, which means some of their facilities will be closed during that time. Below is a list of city facilities that will be closed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It’ll be a quiet week on the ice for each of the 12 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League clubs next week, but for a number of players, there will be plenty of hockey to be played.
