RCMP are looking for a man who robbed a Melfort convenience store at knifepoint. The man, who was described as an approximately six-foot tall Caucasian with a medium build, entered the store at approximately 4:15 a.m. on May 11 and demanded money.

Crop Report for the Period May 2 to 8: Seeding is underway for most producers in the province. Eleven per cent of the 2017 crop is now seeded, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture’s Weekly Crop Report.

After another year of hard work, volunteers of the Prairie North Health Region were the guests of honour at the annual volunteer appreciation event organized by the health region.

The shoreline assessment and remediation of the North Saskatchewan River has resumed. The announcement was made this week that cleanup has resumed of oil that is left over from the Husky oil spill that happened last July.

Nipawin’s council is planning two meetings to hash out how it will levy taxes this year. The town will have to raise an extra 2.2 per cent – around $97,000 – to meet the expenses planned in its budget, passed April 24.

City council has approved a contribution of $25,000 to the Lighthouse for 2017. The reason is to support a mobile outreach program that the Lighthouse has started.

Visitors could see with their own eyes the considerable construction progress at the new Saskatchewan Hospital and integrated correctional facility in North Battleford.
