Enhanced police coverage to First Nations communities to the north of the Battlefords has arrived with the opening of a new RCMP satellite office in Cochin.

Starting Aug. 1, the cost will go up for criminal record checks at the Battlefords RCMP. According to a news release, the fee collected by the City of North Battleford will remain the current rate of $25.

More than 120 calls were made to the North Battleford RCMP detachment between 6 a.m. Friday, July 11 and 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 15.
