Contacts captain Kade Kehoe scored with a minute left in overtime to give Saskatoon a 4-3 win over the Battlefords AAA Stars Thursday night at the Schroh Arena in SMAAAHL action. It was Kehoe's team-leading 23rd goal of the season.

Kurt Braint, account manager of RBC in North Battleford, presented the Battlefords North Stars with a cheque for $428. The money was raised during a raffle for a Jonathon Toews print in January.

The Wilkie Outlaws extended their lead atop the NSRHL standings to seven points last weekend. The Outlaws won their 11th straight game Friday night, beating the Jets 8-3 in Maidstone.

Two former North Battleford residents are travelling to Sochi, Russia to play important roles in the Olympic hockey tournament. Ken and Mark Wheler will be a part of the officiating team the NHL sends to the Olympic games.

Brody Tatchell had a goal and four assists to lead the Meota Combines to a 6-5 win in game one of their best of five series with the Shellbrook Silvertips. Tatchell assisted on Meota's final four goals for the win in Shellbrook.

It was a bit of an up-and-down week for the Humboldt Broncos as they picked up two wins sandwiched around a blowout loss. The week began on Jan. 28 with a 3-2 win in Nipawin against the Hawks.

Maybe there's something in the water. Whatever the reason, Humboldt has become the epicenter of athletic excellence in Saskatchewan.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks played three tight games against the Saskatoon Stars in the SMFAAAHL. The Sharks won two of the three games played between the teams. The Sharks used the shootout to beat Saskatoon Jan.

The Battlefords AAA Stars picked up a win and a tie against the Generals in SMAAAHL action last weekend in Moose Jaw. Layne Young scored with 1:36 remaining in overtime to give the Stars a 3-2 victory over the Generals Saturday night at Mosaic Place.

Two of the 20 curling teams playing in the Canadian Tire Thursday Open League have remained undefeated after four weeks of play in 2014. Mike Lehman and Allan Hoffman skipped their teams to victories Jan.
