Michael Gudmandson stopped all 28 shots he faced to earn his second shutout as a member of the North Stars in a 4-0 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves Friday night at the Civic Centre.

Battlefords AAA Stars goaltender Ryan Rewerts stopped all 15 shots en route to a 5-0 road shutout of the Beardy's Blackhawks Thursday night. Rewerts earned his 12th win and first shutout of the season.

Basketball season has started for the John Paul II Crusaders with tournaments over the past two weekends. The Crusaders senior girls basketball team hosted an eight team tournament Nov. 29 and 30.

After a three-week stand down and on new ice, the New Horizons were back curling Dec. 10. Doc Hall started off by scoring on the first end, but gave up a two, four and then another four and Lyle Darwent had it easy.

The Battlefords North Stars' furious comeback attempt in the third period fell short. The North Stars were edged 6-5 by the visiting Melfort Mustangs Wednesday night.

The Wilkie Outlaws continued their undefeated march through the rest of the NSRHL last week. Wilkie earned an 8-3 win over the Tigers in Turtleford Friday night. Rick Cey led the way for the Outlaws with a goal and three assists.

The Battlefords Barons Atom A developmental team hosted and won the first annual Wade Belak Memorial Tournament last weekend. The tournament also featured Meadow Lake, Flin Flon and Wilkie and two teams from Saskatoon.

Brent Salzl scored with less than four minutes to go in the third period to give the Battlefords Beaver Blues a 4-3 win in their home opener at the Battleford Arena against the Perdue Pirates Saturday night.

The Broncos ruined the homecoming of Cody Pettapiece in a 4-2 win on Dec. 8 over his new team, the Weyburn Red Wings.

Battlefords North Stars goaltender Darren Martin was named the SJHL goaltender of the week for the period ending Dec. 8. The Calgary-native made one start for the North Stars during the week, a 2-1 shootout win over the Weyburn Red Wings.
