Thursday, the Battlefords Midget Stars played their second game at the Mac's Tournament in Calgary. The Stars earned their second win by a 4-1 score over the Calgary Buffaloes.

One of the top teams from British Columbia faced one of the top teams in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League and the Saskatchewan representatives earned the win.

The Battlefords Bantam AA Barons are near the .500 mark heading into the Christmas break. The Barons played Friday against North East and Sunday against Sask Valley. Friday, the Barons fell 7-1.

The Battlefords Midget Stars made their first Mac's Tournament appearance in 12 years in the international event in Calgary. The Stars first game was against the Greater Vancouver Canadians Wednesday at 10 a.m.

So far in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League home ice advantage has been just that - an advantage. Through the first 25 games, 18 times the home team has won. That held true last week, as the home team won all six games on the schedule.

The Battlefords Midget Stars will head into the Mac's Tournament in Calgary and the 2013 portion of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League schedule in fourth place in the league standings.

The St. Walburg Eagles earned two more wins on the weekend and now hold a 10-1-0 record on the season and are positioned in first place in the standings. Friday, the Eagles beat Paradise Hill 5-4.

The New Horizons ended the fall schedule Dec. 18 with some interesting games. It was no surprise the Forester team won their 10th game.

It wasn't the best way to end the 2012 portion of the schedule for the Battlefords North Stars.

The North Stars' Casey Parker had earned Rookie of the Week honours recently, by not allowing a puck past him in about 127 consecutive minutes. But on Wednesday's game against the Flin Flon Bombers, it took four minutes for Flin Flon to beat him.
