They had a great time in the tropics. The Humboldt Basketball Club, consisting of nine girls from Humboldt and one from Outlook, were in Hawaii from December 27 to January 4 to play basketball in a 10-team tournament.

Add 13 and 14 to the list of wins for the Humboldt Broncos. The Broncos won both home games played January 6 and 8 at the Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt.

"The new kids on the block," as their coach Colleen Voinorosky called them, have earned some valued experience on the ice with the best junior curling teams in the province.

Any New Years resolution the Battlefords Midget Stars would have had for 2012 sure didn't happen on the weekend. The Stars were in Moose Jaw and lost twice to the Generals.

There weren't any fireworks for the Battlefords AAA Sharks as they played their first games of 2012. The Sharks were in Regina for two Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League games on the weekend and lost 11-0 and 5-1.

After joining his third junior team this season, Jordan Ethier appears to be hitting his stride with the Battlefords North Stars, as he now has three points in four games.

Not only was it the trade deadline for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, but the Western Hockey League, and all junior leagues, as well Tuesday.

The Battlefords North Stars jumped into the trade deadline action first, as they acquired a veteran defenceman.

Many medals were brought home by the North Battleford Comprehensive High School wrestling team following a tournament in Prince Albert Saturday.
