There was a lot of puck movement, and not a lot of scoring, but the end result was another win for the Humboldt Broncos. The Broncos took on the Melfort Mustangs at the Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt on December 13.

It was a battle two nights running, but the Broncos emerged victorious from their trip north last week. The Humboldt Broncos travelled to LaRonge December 16 for a two-game series against the Ice Wolves.

The Battlefords Midget Stars have been playing much better hockey over the last month and it has showed as they earned their fourth straight weekend split.

December 21Battlefords North Stars host the Humboldt Broncos in SJHL action. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre. December 21Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League has the Battlefords Beaver Blues in Glaslyn for an 8 p.m. start.

The North Saskatchewan River Hockey League will break for a few days for Christmas, and for some teams that also marks the halfway point of their season. St. Walburg remains the class of the league at 11-0-0.

The Regional Optimist has closely followed the Battlefords North Stars for years and this could be one of the best seasons in a decade, or at least the first half.

It appears the Battlefords North Stars may have started their holidays a week early, as they have struggled in their last three games. Obviously the message to the team from coach Kevin Hasselberg is to put those games behind them and move forward.

Anyone, who has watched the Battlefords AAA Sharks during the previous four seasons likely would have noticed one player on the ice. That player catching everyone's attention was Amanda Grainger.

It was a busy week in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League and the Maymont Settlers took advantage of the busy schedule winning all three of their games, moving to the top of the standings.
