The Battlefords North Stars lost their second straight game and were shut out for the second straight time.The North Stars fired 58 shots at the La Ronge net Tuesday, but lost 3-0.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks have been getting closer each week of Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League action and they finally earned their first win of the season Sunday.

The Battefords North Stars beat the top two teams in the Sherwood Conference Thursday and Saturday, but Sunday the Broncos bucked them off their 13-game winning streak.

The Battlefords North Stars extended their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League winning streak to 13 games after beating Yorkton 4-3 in overtime Thursday and Weyburn 6-3 Saturday.

The Battlefords Bantam A Barons provincial team was in action on the weekend and won the Swift Current Bantam A Tournament. The Barons beat the host Swift Current Broncos in the championship game by a 5-4 score in overtime.

It was a rare mid-week game for the Battlefords AAA Sharks, as they were in Prince Albert Wednesday.

Friday, scores from the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League had St. Walburg edge Meadow Lake 3-2, Turtleford beat Wilkie 5-4 and Paradise Hill beat Spiritwood 7-2.

It was a tight game, right from the first period, but the Broncos beat the Bruins when they battled in Humboldt for the first time this season on November 30.

They see it as a way to keep active when it's cold, and make the winter pass a little more quickly. And they're looking for more people to join them. The Carlton Trail Ski Club is looking to grow their membership this winter.

Fan's can argue mustaches have been a part of hockey as long as body checking, scoring and the puck itself.
