NIPAWIN — Economic opportunity and rural crime were high on the Saskatchewan Party’s mind as their 46 MLAs met for a caucus retreat in Nipawin.

NORTHEAST — The North East School Division is going to tap into its reserves for a third year to keep cuts away from the classrooms. On a cash basis, the division will be in a $2.4 million deficit before it taps into its accumulated surplus.

NIPAWIN — The Nipawin Hawks have a bit of a rebuild this summer as they prepare for a first game against Humboldt this fall. The first game will be in Humboldt Sept. 12 to be televised on TSN, followed by a home game Sept. 14.

TISDALE — More details about the 2019 TELUS Cup West Regional, which will be hosted in Tisdale, have been released.

MELFORT — As the skateboard park at Melfort’s Spruce Haven Park nears completion, construction on the next set of recreational facilities is about to begin.

TISDALE — Three locations in and near Tisdale have been broken into and items stolen, including Wicks’ Gas Bar and the Beehive Hotel. “We’re looking for the public’s assistance in a few files we have here,” said S/Sgt.

MELFORT — Melfort will have a new park at the north end of the city by the end of the year, thanks to a $100,000 donation.

TISDALE — Some of the best U16 softball teams in the province will compete in Tisdale this weekend.

TISDALE — A new doctor is coming to Tisdale. Dr. Mahfuza Rahman will be providing physician services with the Northeast Medical Clinic effective June 25. She is originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
