MELFORT — A group of eight women has taken over the organization of the Melfort multiple sclerosis walk.

TISDALE — The Tisdale duo of Jordan Simoneau and Carter Sawatzky helped the Nipawin Hawks fly to their first Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League championship in 28 years.

TISDALE — The province’s premier came to thank local first responders for their efforts in dealing with the collision at the Armley corner.

CARROT RIVER — Four youth were caught in a SUV stolen from Carrot River. Inside the vehicle was a .22 caliber rifle, large machete, several BB guns and ammunition.

UPDATE: Dana Head has been found safe and sound. NIPAWIN —Nipawin RCMP are asking for help in finding Dana Irvin Head, who’s from the region. The 37-year-old man was reported missing to RCMP on May 23.

NIPAWIN — Wanting to have at least one rodeo that didn’t require a long drive, a high school rodeo mother decided to host a rodeo right in Nipawin.

CARROT RIVER — Scott Debienne is no longer the fire chief of the Carrot River Fire and Rescue. The decision to end his employment was announced by the town May 22 and confirmed by the town’s council at their meeting May 23.

NORTHEAST — The two MLAs serving the Tisdale area have been tasked with new assignments as legislative secretaries.

NIPAWIN — The tax rates have been set. Those that own a home with a total assessment of less than $117,110 will save money this year, while those above that will pay more. The residential tax rate is 0.
