TISDALE — The Tisdale Trojans coaching staff was impressed by the talent and compete level on display at their annual spring camp. About 85 players, aged 14 to 17, attended the event at the Tisdale RECplex, which ran March 30 to April 1.

STAR CITY — A snowmobile was stolen from a yard in Star City. Melfort RCMP are asking for the public’s help. The black 2017 Ski-Doo Summit X-154 with yellow accents and trim was stolen sometime between 11 p.m. March 31 and 9 a.m. April 1.

MELFORT — It’s taken almost a decade, but the province is about to fulfil its promise to rehab the service roads in the south end of Melfort at a cost of $1.4 million.

NIPAWIN—Nipawin council has approved an application that will let the Pineland Co-op sell firearms from its Home Centre. The decision was made at the March 26 council meeting, with an extra caveat.

NIPAWIN—Consider it a missed opportunity. After winning both games in Nipawin, the Hawks went out on the road and suffered a 2-1 loss to the Humboldt Broncos in Game three of the semifinals.

YELLOW QUILL—Greenwater RCMP arrested a 25-year-old Yellow Quill First Nation man in connection to a stabbing. The RCMP were called to the scene March 25, where they found a 16-year-old victim.

NIPAWIN—A good set of special teams can make the difference between winning and losing in the playoffs. The Nipawin Hawks were the benefactors of that theory in Game 2 against Humboldt.

NIPAWIN—Michael Grant played the overtime hero by scoring a power play goal 2:33 into double overtime, giving the Nipawin Hawks a 3-2 overtime victory over the Humboldt Broncos.

MELFORT—The Melfort and District Museum is interested in acquiring a 1912 Canadian Pacific Railway caboose.

TISDALE—The popular brainchild of a former Tisdale resident is making the leap from live-action to animation. Brent Butt’s Corner Gas Animated will air on the evening of April 2 on the Comedy Network.
