TISDALE—A town hall meeting hosted by the Tisdale RCMP focused on preventing rural crime. Cpl. Mel Zurevinsky from Regina was at the March 29 meeting to talk about how citizens could establish rural crime watches and citizens on patrol programs.

NIPAWIN—Because no businesspeople are interested on being on the Nipawin Business Improvement District, Nipawin council has appointed themselves as the interim board.

NIPAWIN—For the fourth year in a row the Nipawin Hawks are in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League semifinals.

While rural crime was a concern at the Nipawin RCMP’s town hall meeting, there were no questions about using force to protect property.

Icy surfaces on Highway #3 have caused two accidents within a day of each other. The first happened March 26. At 4:55 p.m., the Tisdale RCMP were called to a two-vehicle collision approximately three kilometers east of Tisdale.

Tisdale’s mayor and economic development officer spent three days in Ottawa to drum up more investment for the town. Al Jellicoe and Sean Wallace met with diplomats from the United Arab Emirates, Korea and Germany.

Tisdale and area residents will have the chance to ask the RCMP some questions and learn about establishing citizen groups to combat crime. The Tisdale RCMP will hold a town hall meeting at the Civic Centre March 29 at 7 p.m.
