Like many of you, when the weather gets warm my thoughts turn to the garden...and the lawn, the weeds and the dead leaves from last fall.

I can't believe it. No real rants to convey this week. A few random thoughts maybe, but no eager, easy skepticism issues. That's just not like me.

Less than 10 years ago respected social trend monitor and author Doug Elliott stood in front of about 30 people in Estevan and told them that their possibilities of attracting a goodly number of immigrants to this community were limited.

Just two weeks ago, I was writing in this same column how we were anxious to get busy planting flowers and vegetables in the gardens and seeding crops in the fields, now that spring had arrived with its warmer temperatures.

How about a few minor rants for today, just to get us off on a good foot for a frantic weekend of fun! Most of our recent observations have to do with the sporting world, but not entirely.

Although recent weather patterns have not been conducive to performing a lot of outdoor work, the forecast is for more promising sunshine and warmer temperatures in the near future.

The Editor: Why should a $120 million SaskTel dividend scoop by the Saskatchewan government concern me? Well, SaskTel just spent cash advertising a province-wide, world-class wireless network.

It might have been Joyce, Jana or Liz. All I can recall right now is that there was a comment made by a female columnist in a Saskatchewan newspaper a few weeks ago about growing up in a neighbourhood filled with kids.

For example: the simple act of a yawn may be perceived by those around you that a) you are tired; b) you are bored; or c) they are boring you.

Since the health care community and ministry has abrogated a portion of their responsibility in recruiting and retaining health care professionals, the communities they serve have found themselves having to leap into that breach.
