The Family Place officially opened their Festival of Trees display and silent auction on Nov. 14. This is the 12th annual Festival of Trees, and this year they are in a new location, at the Weyburn Co-op Home Centre in the City Centre Mall.

Alberta (Birdie) Louise McKenzie (nee Pittman) was born in Regina on November 28, 1929. Within a year she relocated with her parents to Weyburn, where she lived for most of her life.

Once again members of the Weyburn Police Service were busy dealing with 110 calls for service during the week of Nov. 7-13. Many of the calls were alcohol related and several disturbances and motor vehicle accidents were attended.

"Freedom is never free," heard the large standing-room only audience in the Weyburn Legion Hall, as they listened to tributes being made to veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces at the Remembrance Day ceremonies held Friday.

Ashley Skjerdal, the skip of the junior women's team from the Weyburn Curling Club, uses her broom to mark a spot on the rink that Zoe Molder must slide towards, during the first curling session of the year for the Weyburn Junior High.

Weyburn Badminton Club has been operating for more than 30 years on Friday and Sunday evenings at the Weyburn Comprehensive School gymnasium.
