This past Saturday brought an end to CFL football for 2011 in the house that Ronnie and George built, Mosaic Stadium. The Riders played spoiler and came away with a 19-3 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the final home game for Green and White.

Competing against Team Saskatchewan in the girls under 22 category at a Water Polo Tournament recently held in Calgary were Weyburn's Kelsey Jensen, Taylor Molde, Jenna Haupstein, Sydney Huebner, Kaylyn Jensen and Claudia Lenferna.

The Weyburn and District United Way's 30th Annual Communithon successfully surpassed this year's goal of $130,000. The dynamic event ran from 8:00 a.m. on October 21 to 5:00 p.m. on October 22, by the end of which approximately $124,000 was raised.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of October 16 to Oct 24: During this reporting period, police received 140 calls for assistance. *Police attended to several noisy parties as a result of neighbors complaining.

A local group of individuals participated in the Friends and Family Team Challenge category of Run for the Cure and won the Award for that category, raising $13,622 for the Run.

The JHC Hitmen have kicked off their 2011/2012 Bantam A season with a pair of big wins. The Hitmen visited the Regina Jets on October 13 and came away with a 5-2 victory thanks to a tremendous performance in the early-going by Branden Smith in goal.
