Several local young people will soon have their short stories in a book, thanks to a program offered at the Estevan Public Library for the TD Canadian Children’s Book Week.

Weyburn artist Grace Rose Holyer shows off one of five books of paintings and poetry, entitled, “Shadow Behind the Veil”, which won first place overall in the 2016 local art adjudication.

The 2016 Weyburn Comp School’s musical presentation of “The Little Mermaid” is ready to bring Ariel’s adventures onto the stage at the Cugnet Centre. Performances will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 2.

The Redvers and District Music Festival Competition Awards Program was held on Monday, April 25, at the Knox United Church in Redvers. The competition saw students compete from Carlyle, Manor, Arcola, Stoughton, Storthoaks, Bellegarde, and Redvers.

The Jean McCulloch Memorial Junior Piano Competition will be held in Weyburn on Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. at the T.C. Douglas Centre.

Musicians of a wide range of ages and experience entertained the audience and won awards for their accomplishments at Weyburn’s 16th annual fiddle contest.
