The Estevan Bruins recent run of success came to an end Saturday night in a 5-1 loss to the Melville Millionaires.

The Estevan Leafs initiation hockey team entertained fans with a mini game during the first intermission of Saturday night's hockey game at Affinity Place between the Estevan Bruins and the Melville Millionaires.

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings fell 6-4 on the road Novemeber 8th to the Estevan Bruins. The first period was rough and ended with the Bruins leading 3-0 and shots being 17-9 for the Bruins.

It was an eventful night at Affinity Place on Friday, but the biggest highlight came late in the second period when Estevan Bruins captain Jayden Davis scored a goal of the year candidate in the Bruins 6-4 victory over the Weyburn Red Wings.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins improved their record to 9-0 with two more victories in league play. The first win was 3-1 over the Regina Vics on Nov. 2.

Leslie “Weazz” Elson was inducted into the Estevan Motor Speedway Wall of Fame during the track’s 2019 awards night on Saturday. Leslie, who died last summer, was involved with the track for many years.

The Estevan Motor Speedway wrapped up their 20th anniversary season with a great banquet and awards night that was held at the Estevan Exhibition Hall on Saturday.

This is a new feature in the Mercury that will run every second week throughout the 2019-20 Estevan Bruins season.

The South East Aaron Well Servicing midget AA Goldwings female hockey team picked up three of a possible four points on a northern road trip. On Nov. 2 they played the Prince Albert Foxes. The Goldwings won the game 2-1 but outshot the Foxes 60-18.

The 2019-20 Big Six Hockey League season opened with three games, two on Nov. 2 and one on Nov. 5. The Carnduff Red Devils trounced the Midale Mustangs 8-3 on Nov. 2.
