The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings played their first road game of the season and the outcome was less than ideal.

Many of the top young golfers in southeast Saskatchewan were at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course on Tuesday for the Southeast District Athletics Association’s golf championship. Thirty-eight boys and five girls competed.

For the second straight week, the Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs football team came out with a strong effort, but were just a little bit short. ECS lost 34-26 to the host Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles on Friday night in Weyburn.

The Estevan Century 21 U12 Chargers football team has had a familiar refrain for its games this season: fall behind early, and then show resiliency by having a late game rally, only to come up just short.

Eddie Gallagher scored the winning goal with 2:24 to play in the third period, and Jayden Davis added the insurance goal with 40 seconds to play to lift the Estevan Bruins to a 4-2 victory over the Yorkton Terriers Tuesday night at Affinity Place.

The WCS Junior A and B girls teams competed in a home tournament on Friday and Saturday, and the Jr. A girls advanced to the finals. The Junior A team finished second in their pool with a record of 6-2.

Special Olympics in Estevan launched its fall activities with a Try-It Camp at the Estevan Leisure Centre’s multipurpose room Friday evening. Twenty-two young athletes were in attendance and they were able to participate with their family members.

The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs senior boys volleyball team had a good learning experience at their annual home tournament on the weekend.
