Our hockey season has officially come to a close. And what a fantastic season it was!! Our home tournament was held on Saturday, Mar. 2.

The Weyburn Junior High boys 'B' basketball team travelled to Oxbow for districts on March 7, where they defeated Oxbow 45 to 19 to advance to the final.

On Saturday, March 9, the Kennedy Skating Club presented their skating carnival titled, "A Year in the Life of a Skater." This past year saw 36 youth participate in the CanSkate and StarSkate programs collectively.

The newly crowned champions of the American Collegiate Hockey Association have a distinctly southeast Saskatchewan flavour.

Graham DeLaet earned $44,100 at the Puerto Rico Open, after tying 18th at the event. This was the seventh event of the 2013 Professional Golf Association Tour for the former Weyburn local.

The Estevan Apex Bruins are marching on to the second round of the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League playoffs after getting past the Regina Flames in three games.

On Friday, the Yorkton Terriers demonstrated exactly why they finished in first place in the Sherwood Conference. The next night, the CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins made it clear they have no intention of rolling over.

In the waning moments of the third period, it looked like the Estevan Sherritt Coal Bruins and the Swift Current Broncos were headed to a third and deciding game. But the Bruins tied the game with 2:16 to play and won it with 6.

The Estevan Mermaids synchronized swimming club attended the Marj Simpson Invitational meet in Winnipeg on Saturday and Sunday for the fifth year in a row. The Mermaids dominated in a number of the figures competitions.

WJH Cobras player Payton Oberg, No. 5, goes up against a defender from Oxbow, during the opening round of the SEDAA intermediate girls basketball playoffs on Thursday. Payton and her fellow Cobras came away with a 26-22 victory over Oxbow.
