One of the most respected people in the Saskatchewan hockey scouting world has left the Estevan Bruins.

One of Canada's most winning hockey coaches, whose association with the Weyburn Red Wings spans nearly five decades, took "early retirement" effective immediately, the team announced Thursday.

It looks like Dwight McMillan and the Weyburn Red Wings are parting on less than ideal terms.

A group of girls from Wawota, Maryfield, Redvers, Carlyle, and Midale have come together to form an 18U girls club volleyball team. Based in Carlyle the new club has been formed by Coach Bree Ryan with the assistance of her brother Blake Slykhuis.

The CanElson Estevan Bruins, a team within the SJHL, were recently in Carlyle spending two days in town, Dec. 17 and Dec. 18. On their trip they visited schools in both Carlyle and Manor.

Two local athletes have been chosen to play on the Under 14 Saskatchewan Selects football team. Andrew Kehler (13) and Lane Newell (12) played a regular season with the Estevan Chargers. Their second year of play, both youth love the game immensely.

Local water polo athlete Taylor Molde was recently in Australia, where she competed with the Canadian women's team during the FINA World Youth Water Polo championships.

The Estevan Motor Speedway has released their tentative race dates for the upcoming season. Once again, the EMS will be featuring IMCA modifieds, stock cars and hobby stocks on their regular race program.
