Weyburn Review

Frankie Gawlryluik of the Weyburn Wrestling Club was recently invited by the Saskatoon Junior Huskies Club to represent the Saskatchewan Team at the Stu Hart Tournament of Champions. The tournament was held in Calgary from January 1 to 3.

The World Junior Hockey Championship tournament has come to an All-Canadian-Picture-Perfect-Finish. Canada wins the gold medal in the game we call our own.

(Submitted) - School has resumed at WCS for the final week before Semester 1 exams which start on Tuesday, January 13 and run until Friday, January 16. The second semester will begin on Monday, January 19.

The Weyburn Red Wings Hockey Club will be hosting its' 13th Annual Sports Dinner and Auction on January 17 at McKenna Hall.

For the second time this season, a member of the Weyburn Gold Wings has been named Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League star of the month. Goalie, Chantal Burke, was named second star for the month of December.

The Weyburn Music Festival is fast approaching and with that, so is the entry deadline. The entries, which will be accepted online only, are due by January 16. No late entries will be accepted.

The Saskatchewan Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Saskatchewan SPCA) has announced they will not renew their contract with the Ministry of Agriculture for enforcement of The Animal Protection Act, 1999.

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club had its annual Christmas social with a dinner followed by bridge on December 22, the final game of 2014.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Weyburn will hold their annual general meeting on January 20 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the BBBS office, which is located downstairs at the Metro Center, 64 Third Street.

Donovan Belisle pleaded guilty to one count under occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation and was fined $2,030 in Weyburn Provincial Court on December 16, 2014.
