The Weyburn Cobra wrestling club hosted their annual Cobra Classic on Saturday. Clubs from Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Esterhazy, Manor, Prince Albert, Regina and other communities gathered at the Cugnet Centre for the event.

In the early morning hours of Dec. 8 the Weyburn Police Service received a direct call from a 28-year-old female victim about an assault in progress at her residence.

The Pioneer Woman statue will stand in Weyburn as a symbol to recognition all the unique contributions that pioneer women made to the community and the surrounding area.

Lake Alma (cpd) — The play “Nun’s Trail” had their first performance on Nov. 27 at the Lake Alma Community Hall and played to the Gladmar Regional School students. It continued on Nov. 28 and 29, and a matinee on Nov. 30 with sold-out crowds.

Both Brett Jones and Brendon LaBatte were chosen as 2014 Canadian Football League All-Stars, as announced by the league on Thursday morning. The All-Stars were selected by the Football Reporters of Canada and the league’s head coaches.

After Sandy John’s first husband Daryl Spencer passed away 12 years ago, she didn’t want to feel alone at the holidays. So she and her three daughters set out to make sure there were lots of people around with whom to celebrate Christmas.

Lieut. Brian Bobolo, from the Salvation Army, spoke about how having strong women in his life had influenced him and have inspired hope in him.

The celebration of Christmas draws in people from all sorts of situations and groups into parties and suppers of all descriptions throughout the month of December, and leads right into the celebration of New Year’s the week after that.
