Weyburn Review

Weyburn's community, culture and convention centre, which has been known to locals as The Triple C Centre, has finally received its official name.

For many years of his short life, Perry Folk was a fixture at the Weyburn Golf Course. He was a pretty good golfer, but he was an even better socializer -- widely regarded as the friendliest guy in the clubhouse.

Joyce Allison Carroll, late of Francis, passed away Wednesday June 20, 2012, at the age of 53 years. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Grace Norman; mother and father-in-law, Earl and Phyllis Carroll.

Weyburn city council approved plans to improve the conditions of the city's recycling bins on East Avenue, by expanding the size of the lot and putting fencing around it, at their council meeting on Monday evening.

Derrick Pouliot was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins, and was their top pick during the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft. The draft was held in Pittsburgh on Friday evening.

Marie Jeannette Scott, late of Midale, SK passed away June 19, 2012, at the age of 77 years. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Jack Scott; her parents, Garnet and Mary Caplette; one sister, Joyce Gusikoski; brother-in-law, Jim Scott.

The Weyburn Agricultural Society Fair is just around the corner, running July 2-4. This year marks the 104th anniversary of the fair, which began in 1908.
