Planning for the 2012-13 season is well under way for Yorkton Minor Hockey (YMH), and they find themselves with one vacant AA coaching position. YMH has been working to fill the Midget AA vacancy, but to date, it has not found one.

On May 26, Yorkton United Chelsea played its season opener against the REU Rush. The score was 4-1 at the half with Jaxon Mcleod scoring the only goal. The second half was a struggle for Yorkton with the final score being 10-1.

The Parkland Valley Sport, Culture, and Recreation District will be managing Team Parkland Valley that will be competing at the 2012 Saskatchewan Summer Games and has finalized its Mission Staff.

Paul Toth of Saltcoats added an appearance in the Senior bowl to his credentials, capping of his high school career by playing in the annual all-star event. It was at the University of Saskatoon's Griffiths Stadium.

The Yorkton United FC hosted their second soccerfest of the season over the weekend. Games and scrimmages were held at Sacred Heart High School and the Parkland Mall field.

2012 brings new people and a new outlook to the Canadian Nationals this season for the Yamalube Schrader's SMX Racing team.

Ten athletes from Sacred Heart High School attended the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association provincial track and field competition on June 1-2.

The Yorkton United FC begins men's play this week as well as futsal games, says Mike Jakubiec of YUFC. The YUFC is still accepting registrations for the league. Soccer begins on May 28. Futsal starts on May 27.
