At the 71st Annual General Meeting of the Trans Canada Yellowhead Highway (TCYHA), held in Sherwood Park/Strathcona County AB, Yorkton Saskatchewan Councillor Randy Goulden was presented with the prestigious Life Members Award.

To say that the federal Liberal government is completely oblivious to Saskatchewan may be a tad unfair.

Yorkton’s SARCAN depot has won a customer service award. The depot took home the award for Cleanliness for an extra-large depot.

This week in Canadian history, the death penalty was abolished. On June 22, 1976, the House of Commons voted to abolish the death penalty with a six vote majority. The last execution in Canada was in 1962.

The second annual Sun’s Out Guns Out event, held by the Yorkton Wildlife Federation (YWF), took place on Saturday, June 17 at the trap and skeet shoot club.

Tailwinds, a horse farm just outside of Yorkton, was the hosting spot for more than a dozen visiting horses last weekend - most of those were Saskatchewan Clydesdales. The farm’s owner, Twylla Newton, organized a learn-to-drive clinic at Tailwinds.

The Yorkton Cardinals of the Western Major Baseball League find themselves at the bottom of the league standings after a few road losses last weekend.

Yorkdale Central School currently holds two city championship basketball titles: one for the female team and one for the male. So it’s safe to say that basketball isn’t an unfamiliar sport for the kids at that school.
