The kids and families at the Family Resource Centre celebrated Halloween with a party.

Separate school voters returned three incumbents and added one newcomer to represent Yorkton on the Christ the Teacher Catholic Schools (CTTCS) board.

Good Spirit School Division (GSSD) will have a mix of experienced trustees and new blood. In Yorkton, six candidates, one incumbent, two former trustees and three newcomers competed for three Yorkton-at-large seats.

Every now and again a story comes along that reminds us not all men are created equal, some are just plain stupid. In April, John Malcolm Ross, 44, pleaded guilty to sexual interference in Manitoba.

Yorkton is in a somewhat unique position right now. At the moment, there’s a fair bit of retail space open and available for development. The city’s downtown is especially wide open for new business, much of it in recently renovated buildings.

The students of Yorkton might not be old enough to make a trip to the polls, but they did get a chance to practice.

Yorkton voted for change in recent municipal elections, but the same cannot be said for the adjacent rural municipalities.

Yorkton’s Member of Parliament is disappointed her first private member’s bill has been defeated in the House of Commons and is upset the government whipped the vote.
