Yorkton This Week

The people of Yorkton have spoken, and they wanted a change. Five new faces are joining city council, and for most of the evening it appeared as though there would be a change in the mayor’s chair as well.

The Sacred Heart High School boys soccer team brought home a provincial title in the 2A division this past weekend. The tournament was held in Prince Albert.

The Yorkton Regional High School senior Raiders football team traveled to Swift Current over the weekend to face the Colts in semi-final action. The Raiders played a close game with the Colts, but in the end fell 21-7.

The municipal election in Yorkton was one of drama from the day nominations opened until the final poll results were posted. It started of course with 24 people stepping forward for the six Councillor seats, and four for the Mayor’s chair.

Dear Editor: This past week saw a rather historical event take place in our community. The election of a Mayor and Council while taking place every four years, took on a magnitude and a direction of — change.
