Chris and Marianne Heeroma travelled to the Canadian Sheep Classic in Barriere, B.C. at the end of June. There, in the midst of a heat wave, they competed with the best from all over Canada.

Ed, my neighbour next door, has been watching me pick up apples every day. Our one apple tree is covered with apples. It has been the first to ripen, and to shed its apples, on the ground each day.

Mid-September and no frost a rare thing

Wow! What is with this fall? Here it is the middle of September and no frost to report. That doesn't happen very often in this part of the province.

As 2012 was the International Year of Co-operatives, we visited a dairy co-operative, credit services co-ops, market co-ops, urban organic farms, the Santa Gertrudis show cattle farm, farmers markets and a crocodile preserve farm.

Community grants approved

North Battleford's Parks and Recreation committee approved several community grants at their meeting Monday. Battleford Boys and Girls Club were approved for $2,000 to assist with their evening program.
