Here is a rundown of some of the items of note from the Oct. 15 meeting of city council. (Thanks to City Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator Mike Halstead for providing much of the information.

Artists and crafters will be gathering at the Chapel Gallery Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to display their handmade products.

This year I have an unexpected but greatly appreciated item for which to give thanks. It all began with a bag of apples. Here's what happened: I'd just purchased my walk-on ticket and was attempting to attach the heavy bag to my suitcase.

A meeting dedicated solely to the setup of Neighbourhood Watch in North Battleford has been set up. The meeting will be Wednesday at Don Ross Centre room 107 at 7 p.m.

A North Battleford man accused of child pornography charges was in court Monday afternoon. Brian Simon appeared before Judge David Kaiser in North Battleford Provincial Court. His case has been adjourned to Nov. 25.

This week is another week without the dreaded snow. I am thankful! After last year any day without snow is a good day. We seem to be having grey weather right now like Victoria has every time I have gone there to see my mother.

The North Battleford Comprehensive Vikings are semifinals bound after a nail-biter Thursday. The Vikings were taking on Bedford Road and won 11-8 in overtime.

Battlefords Rotary Club welcomed its district governor to an evening meeting of the organization Oct. 16. Betty Screpnek, from Sherwood Park, Alta., leads District 5370 for 2013-14.

One of the suspects accused in the Sept. 1 shooting in North Battleford will return to North Battleford Provincial Court during the first week of November. Justin Fineday appeared by closed circuit TV Monday morning.
