After Battleford council members announced, one by one, they were not running for re-election it became clear the new council would have a different composition than the one that served from 2009 to 2012.

Wednesday afternoon, RCMP were advising all motorists driving around Maidstone to be extremely careful, as Highway 16 and 21 were both in treacherous condition and have seen large numbers of jack-knifed semis, rollovers and vehicles in the ditch.

With 12 out of 19 polls reporting voters are showing strong support for former Saskatchewan Liberal leader Ryan Bater, who at that point had the most votes of any candidate with 692. Second among the frontrunners is Trent Houk with 604 votes.

Premier Brad Wall outlined the province's growth plan to a Battlefords audience at the Dekker Centre Monday. The Saskatchewan Plan for Growth: Vision 2020 and Beyond, was the main focus of the luncheon hosted by the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce.
