The Hafford centennial committee has been working diligently planning for the Rural Municipality of Redberry and Town of Hafford's centennial celebrations in 2013.

The deadline to submit nomination papers came and went at 4 p.m. Sept. 19, and with the dust settled, it seems Battleford is in for an interesting election in October.

No, Sonningdale has not disappeared off the map. We haven't even been sleeping. Well some of us have, but farmers, probably not too much. The usual tasks are in full swing as expected.

Ed, my neighbour next door, had a kind word for me the other day. I almost fainted, but I suspect it was a slip of his tongue and won't happen again. I mentioned to Ed I had been grouchy at work with a friend and a couple of other people.

The Rhinos net points this season are 147, as they outscored their opponents 230-83 in their seven games. Most importantly they are undefeated in the North Battleford Touch Football League and sit at 7-0.

It's four more years at the helm for North Battleford mayor Ian Hamilton. Hamilton was re-elected by acclamation Wednesday after the close of nominations in the municipal election in North Battleford. No challengers came forward by the 4 p.m.

The Battlefords Midget Stars continue to prepare for the 2012-13 Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League season, as they won their second exhibition game in a row Wednesday.

Unity Public School and Cut Knife Elementary School will be the sixth and seventh schools to receive iPads as part of the One-to-One Learning program instituted by the Living Sky School Division.

The Midget Stars pulled out their second straight exhibition win. Wednesday, the Stars won 3-1 on the road against the Beardy's Blackhawks.

A driver has been fined $834 and their vehicle impounded after being clocked in at 194 km/h on Highway 12 between Martensville and Saskatoon just after midnight Saturday.
