A unique birthday celebration was held Aug. 25 near Blaine Lake. The family and friends of Mary Riben gathered at The Olive Tree near Petrofka Bridge for a meal in honour of Mary's 90th birthday.

This fall's civic election race is officially underway in North Battleford as Councillor Ron Crush has become the first officially nominated candidate in the race.

Last year at this time I was celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary my, how time flies. Happy 26th anniversary to my husband, Dave.

Dear Editor As a taxpayer, I am absolutely astounded city council will be rushing through a vote on giving away $1.2 million worth of assets at the next council meeting.

Fall weather has accompanied the very beginning of this September, reminding us of what is to come. Trees are starting to turn and with the changing seasons, comes the end of summer markets.

A black 2011 Hyundai Sonota was damaged while parked on St. Laurent Drive in North Battleford Sept. 3. Overnight Sept. 3, a storage shed was broken into at a school located on 110th Street in North Battleford.

The Borden Friendship Club held their potluck supper and celebrated Aug. birthdays Aug. 29, with 30 out to enjoy the evening. Blowing out the candles on the cake, brought by Ann and Don Brand, were Audrey Baker, Anne Kohut and Rueben Derksen.

It is one of my favourite times of the year. I love the warmth of the late summer sun and the cool evenings. It seems to be a season of relief in the good years when the farmers can take to the field and start their longest days.

The first day of school is coming up, if it already hasn't. Summer is drawing to an end. This usually means an end to the frequent play days, late family movie nights and other fun activities.
