Season set to start

Season set to start

It is time to drop the puck on the Battlefords North Stars' season - or at least the pre-season. Registration and fitness testing begins Friday at 11 a.m. with 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. practice for the 50 players anticipated to be at camp.

Sports Calendar Aug. 31 to Sept. 15

August 31-September 2Battlefords North Stars will hold the team's annual tryout camp for the 2012-13 season at the North Battleford Civic Centre. Game sessions are at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.

Swathing operations taking off

Even though we have had several heavy rain showers during the past week, swathing is going ahead in some places. Harvesting is not general as yet. The calendar does not say that we have entered the "fall" season but nature tells us differently.
