Perhaps the most anticipated golf tournament in the Battlefords each year is the Wayne Pruden Memorial Golf Tournament, as over 200 tee off each year.

Occasionally I get a good laugh from a news item. I don't mean those cynical snickers or unenthusiastic guffaws resulting from a clever cartoon. I mean a really funny bit of news that doesn't demean anyone else.

The Saskatchewan Seniors Fitness Association held their annual meeting and fun day at the Maidstone Seniors' Drop In Centre on April 24. Registration was at 9:30 a.m.

Summer sports are well underway. A number of people from Waseca have joined with Maidstone to form a slo-pitch team, and others have joined to organize a ladies' fastball team.

Dear Editor I have driven all over the city of North Battleford and have not missed many humps or potholes. I have noticed 11th Avenue is in good shape. I would suggest the City hire the contractor that surfaced it.

After the Oddfellows departed in 1950, their former facility was converted into a fine community dance hall and renamed the Co-op Hall. The Co-op store was located below on the main floor.

REID , Neil Finlay; It is with great sadness that the family of Neil Reid announces his passing on April 28, 2012 at his home on the farm after a brief battle with cancer. Neil was born October 20, 1943 in Springhill, Nova Scotia.

The city and the citizens of the Battlefords have given a final sendoff to former mayor Julian Sadlowski. The funeral for Sadlowski, mayor from 2003 to 2009, took place Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Roman Catholic Church.

Saturday, May 26 at the Chapel Gallery there will be a workshop for all artists who want to learn how to work through an "artist's block.
