Habitat trust has record breaking year

"Wildlife lands" means just that, lands that are bought and set aside for wildlife habitat. We as conservationists must do our best at preserving some of the natural habitat we have in our backyard.

SaskTel employees give back to Battlefords

Employees of SaskTel in the Battlefords and district have given back to the community again through the TelCare Program. In total, North Battleford and District TelCare will be donating $18,225 to 15 organizations.

Children's Christmas party hosted

Children in Speers and area were treated to an afternoon Christmas party. About 15 children attended. There was colouring for the younger children. The group then made Christmas ornaments to hang on the tree.

Artistic momentum carried forward

A two-year artistic pilot project funded by the Saskatchewan Arts Board came to an end this December, and the completion was marked with an exhibition at Chapel Gallery.

December 30Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League continues with three games at 8 p.m. Perdue plays in Hafford, Saulteaux plays in Glaslyn and Cut Knife hosts Battleford.

Eagles and Stamps on top

The Meadow Lake Stampeders and St. Walburg Eagles went into the Christmas break on highs. The two teams sit first and second in the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League and both won twice in the days leading up to break.

Assault with a weapon on Red Pheasant

Two people have been charged in connection to an assault with a weapon incident on Red Pheasant First Nation south of the Battlefords. The incident happened around 3 a.m. Dec. 28. RCMP say they responded to a shots-fired call.

Wow, that was fast. I've barely figured out I should be filling 2011 in the blank on my cheques and it is already time to change. A year can bring about many changes in the world, the community and in ourselves.
