John Chick is well known for his defensive prowess, especially when he was a defensive end with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Off the field, he takes on a different role as a spokesperson for those with juvenile diabetes.

The City of Humboldt hosted their Spring City Wide Registration event at the Humboldt Uniplex on Mar. 10 with organizations from a number of different walks of life attending including sports and programs for youth and adults.

The City of Humboldt has received a lot of feedback from residents in the last few months; from the tradeshow, to the Multiplex open house.

Skate Humboldt hosted their year-end skating show on Mar. 13 where the skaters were able to show off the skills that they learned throughout the year. This year the club had a theme of shining bright, said President, Troy Lucyshyn.

With the season now in the books, the Humboldt Broncos handed out their year-end awards at the Pioneer Hotel on Mar. 8 before the players went their separate ways for the summer.

March is Rural Women’s Month which meant I had the delight of speaking with rural women last week about why this support is needed (East Central Trader, March 11, page 7). Agriculture is one of those industries where its media is dominated by men.

Traveling to LeRoy School on Mar. 9 gave me a good feeling. I got an opportunity to see eight schools from around the region join together wearing pink in support of Pink Day, an anti-bullying campaign.
