Wow. The storm system that hit Unity not once, but three times in a 12-hour time span was something else.

"I always knew I wanted to be a teacher," says Junice Headley who has recently retired from a 60-year career as a music teacher. "I was a teacher from this big," she laughs, holding her hand out to a child's height.

The Battlefords Art Club has a long history of supporting visual arts in the community. It promotes exhibits of local work with the aim of encouraging its members in developing their potential for creating satisfying artwork in any medium.

Rose Danychuk spent a few days in Biggar. While there her two great-grandchildren were baptized. Her daughter Nancy and great-granddaughter brought her home. They stayed overnight going home the next day.

The burial funeral service for Arthur Bater took place at the Baljennie St. Bridget's cemetery July 6. Arthur passed away in October 2013. Family members and friends attended the service.

Cribbage was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre June 16 with high score going to Lil McMillan and low to Jean Stewart. Lunch was from the Father's Day Tea and bake sale. Bingo was played June 18 with Joan Smith and Margaret MacEachern calling.

The 15th Summer School for the Solo Voice wrapped up at Third Avenue United Church Saturday.

Borden Library Children's Summer Activity program started July 9, with 21 children aged five to 12 years enjoying a Scavenger Hunt, crafts and other activities with supervisor Emma Prescesky and helpers Graham Sargent, Danika Pidwerbesky and Sara Pre

The annual mowing bee was held at the Meota cemetery Monday with a great turnout of men and mowers. Lunch was brought out byCarol Feschuk. There are still someheadstones to clean off, asmany are covered with grass.
