A strong economic boost is coming to the Northwest with the news that Husky Energy is going ahead with two new heavy oil thermal projects in the area. The projects are the 10,000 barrels/day Edam East project and the 10,000 barrels/day Vawn project.

Wow! It has been a crazy, busy ball. Members of the Reigning Riders 4-H Club have done a few different things. A trade show was hosted in October. Thank you to all those people who came out and supported this event.

There was an incident involving a school bus in North Battleford Wednesday morning. It was reported around 8:30 a.m. and happened at the intersection of Gregory Drive and Foley Drive.

Battlefords RCMP responded to more than 20 calls for service/occurrences between 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 and Wednesday, Jan. 15. Among those calls were two alarms. Tuesday 10:29 a.m.

North Battleford has found its new top executive. It was announced Monday night that Jim Puffalt has been named city manager and will take over officially Jan. 27. Puffalt has over 30 years of experience in municipal management.

Kelvington RCMP are reporting missing snowmobiler Dennis Malischewski has been located. After an extensive ground and air search, Malischewski and his snowmobile were located by the ground search team near Kelvington at about 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

The North Battleford Fire Department responded to two motor vehicle crashes this week, one on Sunday and another on Tuesday. Sunday, one vehicle and four personnel responded at 1:34 p.m.

It finally opened its doors, with much fanfare and pomp and circumstance, this past Friday evening, as people crowded into its narrow corridor, sipping on wine, nibbling on cheese and perusing the showcases of local artists.
