North Battleford's director of public works has received recognition for his leadership of the department. Stewart Schafer is the recipient of the Saskatchewan Public Works Association Professional Manager of the Year Award.

At 11:55 p.m. Monday, Melissa April, 23, escaped from reduced custody at the Saskatoon Community Training Residence for Women. According to a press release, April is rated as a low-security remanded offender.

Treacherous icy road conditions are being blamed for collisions on area roads Monday. The first collision happened at 11 a.m. just to the west of Maymont on Highway 16, according to WPD Ambulance.

RCMP are reporting a drug bust Friday in Maidstone. Around 9 p.m., members from Maidstone Community Detachment with assistance of Lloydminster Rural Enhanced Traffic Unit stopped a 2004 Ford F 150 truckon the access road into Maidstone.
