The North Battleford Comprehensive Vikings are semifinals bound after a nail-biter Thursday. The Vikings were taking on Bedford Road and won 11-8 in overtime.

The battle for the Rivalry Cup has proven pretty one-sided so far. The Battlefords North Stars are now 0 for 4 against their division rival Kindersley Klippers after a disappointing home-and-home series with them over the weekend.

The Battlefords North Stars announced Thursday 19-year-old forward Blake Young has verbally accepted a scholarship offer to join the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs for the 2014-15 season.

The Montreal Canadiens are coming to Humboldt - well, sort of. On Oct. 27 the Elgar Petersen Arena will play host to a game between Canadiens alumni and a team of locals. It will be the first ever game of its type to be held in Humboldt.
