Jazz artist Laila Biali comes to Assiniboia for the second concert of the new season on Wednesday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Prince of Wales Centre. Biali is touring 14 Saskatchewan communities this fall.

The Estevan Arts Council (EAC) has announced the selection of the adjudicator for its upcoming Ev Johnson Memorial Adjudicated Art Show.

By David Willberg, Estevan Mercury A Weyburn resident has received top marks for his ability on the piano. Max Hiske, a 15-year-old, received the Medal of Excellence for Saskatchewan from Conservatory Canada for the Grade 8 level.

During the month of October there are three art exhibits on display at local art galleries. A “Loose Leaves” art exhibit by Jaynie Himsl will be displayed at the Weyburn Credit Union Gallery, which is open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays.

The Shurniak Art Gallery held an exhibit opening and hosted a meet-the-artists afternoon on October 1 in Assiniboia.

Tenille Arts made waves with her self-titled debut EP last year, resulting in streaming giant Pandora naming her one of their new artists to watch and other media outlets touting her insightful songwriting and powerful vocals.

The Weyburn EMS will be hosting a special Halloween Carnival fundraising at the McKenna Hall Sunday, October 29. The Halloween Carnival will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., and there will also be a special Haunted Escape Room from 2 to 10 p.m.

The Estevan Art Gallery and Museum (EAGM) hopes to have even stronger support for its second annual Estevan Derby hobby horse night on Nov. 4 at the Southeast College’s Estevan campus.

“In With the Old” have evolved their music over the years, and are looking forward to showing a new audience what they can do, when they perform at the Communithon Concert Jam in the Cugnet Centre on Saturday, October 21.
