Pangman-area resident Patricia Ungermann and her family have lost a fight to adopt a dog that she and her children fell in love with from the Weyburn Humane Society, but vow to continue to fight over what they feel was an injustice done to the dog.

Each year for a 33-hour period, Weyburn's attention is focussed on the annual fundraising telethon for the Weyburn and District United Way, namely the Communithon, which will be held this year from the Cafetorium at the Weyburn Comprehensive School.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of "A Prairie Alphabet", written by Joanne Bannatyne-Cugent and illustrated by Yvette Moore. The Weyburn Public Library will mark the anniversary with a book reading on Friday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.

Dorothy Marguerite Knight (nee LAING), a long-time resident of Ottawa, ON recently residing at Lakeshore Place Retirement Residence in Burlington, ON passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on October 8, 2012 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Theresa Katherina Carter (nee Ortman) late of Weyburn, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at the age of 88 years. Theresa was born in Odessa, on December 18, 1923 and was the eldest of five children.
