June 21 was Go Skateboarding Day, a now international event to spread the skateboarding culture and Cab Clothing celebrated the event with their third annual Go Skateboarding Day held at the skatepark.

The Health Foundation recently wrapped up its Walk to Run clinic. The clinic held two weekly sessions for anyone who was interested in improving their running/walking abilities in preparation for The Health Foundation Charity Road Race.

Local powerlifter Connor Lutz put Yorkton on the international powerlifting map in the IPF World Classic Cup in Stockholm, Sweden.

It represents one of the largest single farmland transactions in the history of Western Canada. The Hudye Group has announced the sale of their Canadian farmland assets to the Hutterian Brethren Church of Spring Creek, Walsh, Alberta.

Stock car racing The stock car racing season at the Yellowhead International Speedway is set to open. The season schedule will have races Sunday, July 29; Sunday, August 19; Sunday, September 16; Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30.

To the Editor: Passion is often considered to be a virtue in politics. It's seen as a badge of idealism, a clear repudiation of cynical compromise and deal making. But, alas, it has its darker side.

Sunday was a great day for local stock car racing fans as the Parkland Racing Association held races at the Yellowhead International Speed-way.

It's a fun afternoon for the whole family and it's fast approaching! Why not celebrate Canada Day this year by venturing down to a "Good Old Fashioned Family Picnic" on July 1 at the Western Development Museum Grounds.
